When the unit should be possible to open, but temperature and pressure are above what the fully dismountable type withstands.
The unit can be opened at the bolted flange rings at both ends of the shell. If a medium carries solids or fouls heavily, please mention it in your enquiry: that is what the fully dismountable type is for, or we recommend a filter upstream of the unit.
Design and limits
A tube coil in a stainless steel shell, bolted flange rings at both ends of the shell. Flanged connections on the tube and shell side, available with profiled tubes.
| Type designation | SC-T |
|---|---|
| Operating temperature | up to 200 °C |
| Operating pressure | up to 16 bar |
| Connections | Flanges on tube and shell side |
| Tubes | plain or profiled |
| Dismountable | partly |
The limits do not necessarily apply at the same time. The sizing and the quote are binding.
Strengths
- Can be opened at the bolted flange rings at both ends of the shell
- Withstands higher temperatures and more pressure than the fully dismountable type
- Available with profiled tubes that transfer more heat for the same area
Limits
- Only partly dismountable: it opens at the ends of the shell
- The fully dismountable type is the one meant for media carrying solids
Pressure and temperature limits
The types differ in their temperature and pressure limits. The table above gives the values for this type; the comparison shows all types side by side.
The limits do not necessarily apply at the same time. The configurator checks the temperature limit itself during selection; operating pressure and material are fixed in the quote.
Materials
Shell, tube coil and nozzles are made of stainless steel 1.4307 or 1.4404, flanges, where fitted, of painted steel or stainless steel. The quote fixes which material fits.
The hot medium flows through the tube coil, the cold one through the shell. The coil absorbs the different thermal expansion of tube and shell.
Opening at higher temperatures
The partly dismountable type combines two properties: it can be opened at both ends of the shell, and it withstands the same operating temperature as the high-temperature type.
Its operating pressure is the same as in the welded ranges. The fully dismountable type, by contrast, can be taken apart completely but stays below it in temperature and pressure.
Selection and sizing
You do not have to pick the type in advance. The configurator determines type and size from your operating data: media, temperatures, mass flows and permissible pressure drops. Where the calculation model ends, our team does the sizing, for example with a pressure-drop limit on an oil, glycol or steam side.
Our team reviews the sizing; only the sizing and the quote are binding. The guide explains what the sizing works with.
